New Moog Midi MuRF

Posted by: Todd | Comments (0)

I had one of the first generation MuRFs. I loved that pedal and should have never sold it. But the one thing that I wish it had it now does. Looks like I’ll have get back into this cool pedal.

From Moog: “The evolution of the MuRF continues with the MF-105M MIDI MuRF. The MF-105M combines Bob Moogs classic MuRF and Bass MuRF to make one powerful Moogerfooger. Its warm, resonant, 100% analog Mid and Bass filter bands bring you everything from shimmering timbral morphing and rhythmic stuttering to deep bass grooves, and like all Moogerfoogers, its built like a tank to stand up to the toughest touring and studio use.

We didnt stop there. In addition to the full range of Control Voltage inputs, it also sports an extensive MIDI implementation. Create tempo-synced filter sequences with MIDI Clock Sync. Change patterns with MIDI Program Change messages. Control front panel knob settings with MIDI CC messages and play the filters in real-time with MIDI Note On commands.

Its equally at home on the floor, table-top or rack mount, and with all this sound and control in one package, the MF-105M MIDI MuRF connects you to a world of sonic expression, with tight integration into todays performance, production, DJ and remix environments.

Open Stomp: An open source pedal?

Posted by: Todd | Comments (0)

I ran across this pedal while reading AMZ_FX’s blog and the idea really grabbed my attention so I thought I’d pass on the info.

OpenSource

From Open Stomp’s web site: “The OpenStompTM Coyote-1 is an open source audio effects processor built for guitar players. With the Coyote-1 you can develop custom audio effects in software (like distortion, echo, chorus etc.), mix multiple effects to build “patches”, and exchange those effects and patches with the OpenStompTM community.

A companion Windows application (OpenStompTM Workbench) allows you to combine effects into patches graphically, and to move patches and effects between the Coyote-1 device and your PC.

The Coyote-1 O/S is open source so you can tweak it to behave any way you like, and the hardware is fully documented so that you can take control of the whole pedal, dedicating all available system resources toward the implementation of unique custom solutions.”

I’ve seen rack units that do this but not a pedal. The tech geek side of me makes me think I need to get one of these to try out and review.

bluebeckerThe Limited Edition version of the Jason Becker Distortion features the lower half of the painting done by Jasons father, Gary, for this pedal. You acn stack them one on top of the other to make the full image- like the back of the classin KISS trading cards. The L.E. Becker Distortion is available excluively through Pro Tone Pedals to ensure Jason recieves the maximum benefit of the sales.
The JB Distortion is an analog emulation of the British amp used by Jason during the Perpetual Burn recording sessions, with added gain and a boost channel. The additional gain came from Jason telling us that he really enjoyed the higher gain sounds he was using later in his career from a newer amplifier. The end result is 2 pedals in one: A distortion pedal recreating Jason’s burning distorted tone, and a meaty boost pedal that can be used by itself or in conjunction with the distortion to send your guitar to tonal nirvana. Sounds like a must for Becker fans and great way to support a very good cause.

Features:

• Limited production run of only 250 hand signed and numbered
• Pre Amp Volume, Gain, Master Volume and Burn (boost)controls
• Ultra flexible 3 band tone stack modeled after Jasons amps
• Original artwork painted by Jason’s father, Gary Becker
• Operates on a standard 9 volt (negative tip) BOSS style adapter
• True Hardwire Bypass with grounded input for noise free operation
• Stomp switch built to withstand years of hard stomping shows
• Durable aluminum housing
• Super-Bright LED’s for easy onstage identification
• Proudly built by hand in Crossroads, Texas
Knob color/configuration may vary

Wampler Pedals Triple Recstortion prototype

This one sounds like it going for the Mesa Boogie rectifier tone. In this clip it sounds pretty good to me. The Triple Rec will be available on or before August 1.

Wampler Pedals faux tape echo prototype

From Brian: “You’ll notice that our tape echo is quite a bit different than most pedals that claim to be like a tape echo. We dont’ do modulation that sounds like a chorus pedal. I’ve designed a circuit that emulates the flutter from a tape delay unlike any other company. TRUE flutter – not just vibrato added onto the signal. The Faux tape echo will be available on or before August 10th.”       This one also sounds good to me.

Brian makes some cool pedals. Check ‘em out. Wampler Pedals
